DAY 1: DEPARTURE FROM KAMPALA TO KASESE
You will have an early morning breakfast, the journey begins between 7:30 am to 8: 00am.The journey takes approximately 7 hours, you leave Kampala and through those towns there will be magnificent views that will definitely catch your eye. There will be a stopover at Fort portal town where you will have lunch thereafter you proceed to your hotels.
Accommodations to be used are;
-Equator snow lodge (luxury)
-Ihamba safari lodge (midrange)
-Ruboni Community Camp (Budget)
After checking in, you can opt to take a walk through Kasese town to see what it looks like or you can stay at your lodge and relax as you wait for the next day’s long and exciting activities.
DAY 2: BRIEFING AT NYAKALENGIJA(1,615M) TO NYABITABA HUT (2,651)
Our guide/driver will pick you from your lodge and drop you to the starting point of the mountain for briefing. Campsite is set which makes it safe for parking near the office, it’s a 10km from Nyagalengija passing through cultivation than through forest, five hours’ ascent to the Nyabitaba hut which has piped water supply to the hut. You will rest and wait for the next day’s activity.
DAY 3: TRANSFER FROM NYABITABA HUT(2651M) TO JOHN MATTE HUT(3,50M)
You will have breakfast then after breakfast you will start on the hike to John Mate hut. The trail leads to the Kurt Shafer bridge which crosses the Mbuku valley just below the rivers confluence with the Bujuku valley. After a five-hour trek is the start of the giant lobelia and ground zone, a vegetable type limited to East Africa’s highest mountain. You will have a stopover at John Matte
DAY 4: FROM JOHN MATTE HUT TO BUJUKU HUT (3,962)
Have breakfast then proceed route fords the Bujuku river as you cross the lower Bigo bog. In clear weather, you can have a clear view of mountain Stanley. After a long climb, the trail reaches the lovely Bujuku lake, you will then rest for the day and have a sleep over at Bujuku hut.
DAY 5: DESCEND FROM BUJUKU DOWN TO THE RWENZORI MOUNTAIN OFFICES
Sloping down is not a bit of a challenge given the fact that you will be descending it requires little energy. You head to the office where your guide will be waiting you will then go for a game drive through Queen Elizabeth National Park, you will have a chance to see various animals and take lots of pictures and make memories later the driver/guide will take you back to your hotels to rest and have dinner to prepare for your journey back to Kampala the next day.
DAY 6: TRAVEL BACK TO KAMPALA
Driver/guide will pick you from your hotel after you have had breakfast and you will head back to Kampala. There will be a stopover at Fort portal for lunch then you will proceed to Kampala, you will be dropped either at your hotel or to the airport in order for you to catch up with your flight.
