Day 1.Nyakalengija (1648m) to Nyabitaba hut (2654m)
Begin the day by approaching the rwenzori mountaineering services(RMS) head offices early in order to hire equipment’s if so and arrange for guides, chef and porters.at once hiking starts from the park headquarters 1646 m to Nyabitaba a distance of 10 km takes 4-5 hours. The trail at the beginning goes through homes and fields progressing through elephant grasses, dense bushes. You will climb over rocks and bluffs, crossing river mahoma then ascending steeply into Nyabitaba. Certain animals may be spotted such as the white colobus, blue monkeys, three horned chameleon and rwenzori turaco. Stay overnight at Nyabitaba hut.
Day 2:Nyabitaba (2651m) to Johnmaate hut (3505m)
From Nyabitaba you descend to your right follow the trail that drops down through the forests for a half an hour to the kurt shaffer bridge, just below the confluence of mubuku and bujuku rivers. The is then easy going for a couple of hours passing through the bamboo forests and then becomes more difficult, kind of like spelunking, traverse through along and exhausting stretch of slippery moss-covered rocks. This long stretch takes you to Nyamileju rock shelter where if the weather is clear you can view Mt.stanley and speke and here you be passing into the zone of giant heather, lobelia and groundsels. Finally reach Johnmaate hut after passing the tiring bog. while here, high chances of catching the nice view of mt.stanley and margharita glaciers. Finally dinner and overnight at the hut after walking for 5-7 hours.
Day 3:Johnmaate (3505m) to Bujuku hut (3900m)
From johnmaate hut, the trail drops down to cross the bujuku river and enters lower bigo bog, the home of giant lobelias. the bog is easily crossed because of board walks. continuing on to upper bigo bog you will follow the bujuku river that sometimes runs underground from lake bujuku. with views of mt.baker to the south and mt.stanley to the west. Bujuku hut well located in the shadow of mt.baker and mt.speke is set in a narrow valley below stulman pass.3 hours walk from john mate camp. Diner and overnight at bujuku hut.
Day 4: Descend from Bujuku hut (3900m) to Johnmaate (3505m)
Day 5: Johnmaate (3505m) to Nyabitaba (2654m) to Nyakalengija (1648m)
