The 5 days Uganda primate safari includes Kibale Forest, Queen Elizabeth national park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Kibale inhabits 13 primates’ species including among others: Chimpanzees, Mangabeys, Giant Forest Hog, Vervets, Black and White Colobus monkeys, Red tailed Monkeys, Olive baboons; and 350 bird species notably the rare shoebill and Green Breasted Pitta. Bwindi forest on other hand has 360 mountain gorillas.

Trip Summary
Day 1: Kigali – Kibale Forest. Village walk.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest. Nature Walk through Bigodi.
Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park – evening boat cruise
Day 4: Game drive and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
Day 5: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Forest and transfer to Kigali
Day 1: Kigali-Kibale forest national; home of Chimps
As early as 7:00 am local time you will be picked from hotel in Kigali after breakfast or from Kigali international airport, transfer to Kibale National park via gatuna boarder, kabale with a stopover in kasese for lunch and proceed to Fort Portal traversing spectacular tea plantations and local homesteads. You may arrive in fort portal town around 2 and check in at the lodge and this evening you will take a short walk. (the stalagmite & stalactite); enjoy the scenic beauty of the place and background stories, dinner and overnight at the selected lodge.

Duration: 6-7 hours’ drive
Day 2: Chimp Trekking and Nature walk
At 6:30 am, take your breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters for briefing by the park ranger. At 8:30 am you will transfer to the beginning of the tracking trail. Usually it takes a minimum of 3 hours tracking the chimps in the forest. After the chimp trek return to the lodge for a hot lunch as you prepare to go for an evening nature walk in the Bigodi wetland. Expect to see some primates including different monkey species; and a plethora of birds including the great blue turaco. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast head back to Queen Elizabeth National Park renowned for its diverse wildlife such as hippos, elephants, kobs, buffaloes as well as elephants, plus various bird species. Check out the crater lakes such as Lake Katwe renowned for salt mining. Have your lunch back at the lodge go for a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel to see Hippos and Crocodiles plus water birds and other animals in a distance away. Dine and slumber at Bush lodge or similar

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park
At 7:00 am your breakfast will be ready for the game drive and after you will prepare to transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park. This is a 4 hours’ drive sparing an hour for a game drive in Ishasha Wildlife sector of Queen Elizabeth national park in anticipation of tree climbing lions. Later transfer to Bwindi – Buhoma for your lunch and an evening Batwa (Pygmies) community walk. Dinner and overnight gorilla valley lodge or same

Day 5: Gorilla Tracking and transfer to Kigali
Today you have a chance to penetrate the impenetrable Bwindi Forest in search for these humble Giant Apes. The activity takes 2-6 hrs and goes through steep rocks, climbing up and down making it tiresome before finding gorillas camouflaged in dense green vegetation. However, the thrill of encountering these giant primates erases the poor memories you went through in trying to find them. After you will be transferred to Kigali in Rwanda through the spectacular and picturesque hills of Kigezi popularly known as ‘the Switzerland of Africa’. This is a 3 hours’ drive depending on the time spent at Katuna border post clearing with immigration office and you will be dropped at The Nest hotel (23 KG 676 Street Kimihurura, Kigali, Rwanda.
