Day 2: Gorilla Tracking and community visit.
After a comfortable night at the lodge, have an early breakfast and get ready for this unforgettable adventure. Akita wild tours company guide/driver will meet you at the lodge and he will transfer you to park’s headquarters for briefing on the rules and regulation before gorilla trekking. The trek starts at 8:30am. You will be allocated a gorilla family with 8 tourists per gorilla family. Drive to the starting point and the well-armed game ranger will lead the group into the thick jungle in search of the endangered mountain gorilla.
An advance group of highly trained trackers will locate the gorillas ahead of time and communicate back to your group team lead. The communication between this advance party and your group continues until the gorillas stay in one place long enough for you to catch up and spend time with these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.
Once contact is made with a gorilla group you will be allowed to observe these creatures for one hour. This strict time limit is to ensure that they don’t become too acclimatized to humans. Once the Gorilla Trek is over you will return to your lodge to take a good rest ahead of the day break.
On your trek, you are likely to spot other primates, birds and rare tree species. This is indeed an extraordinary feeling being with these beautiful yet endangered Creatures. The afternoon you will head for community walk in the near-by Batwe communities. Have dinner and overnight in your eco-lodge.
Day 3: Bwindi National Park – Kampala
Have an early morning breakfast at your lodge, you will travel back to Kampala. On the way back to the city you will have lunch in Mbarara town through Masaka town, for a quick stop at the Equator for photos and buying souvenirs. After arriving in Kampala, either get transferred to the airport for your flight or for an overnight at your hotel (hotel not part of the package). Arrangements for transfers will be made for those whose destinations are within other parts of Uganda.
Gorilla tracking in Bwindi can be challenging, and travellers need to be in shape.
You should be ready to trek gorillas in any sector because of gorilla permit challenge.
